Your council’s decisions, in plain English, by phone.
Every week, TownCall turns your council’s published minutes and agendas into a short plain-English update. Residents ring a local number to hear it.
- Here’s this week’s update.
- The council agreed to award the café contract at the village hall, subject to legal agreements.
- A proposal for a neighbourhood warden was discussed and will come back to a future meeting.
- For who to contact about roads, bins and parks, press 2.
- Clerk approves every word
- Published documents only
- No caller data stored
It’s for the residents your website doesn’t reach — people who aren’t online, don’t use social media, won’t wade through pages of minutes, or find a phone call easier.
The same text can go on your website and social media.
How it works
-
Your council publishes its minutes and agendas as it does now.
-
We turn them into a plain-English summary of what was decided.
-
Your clerk reads it and approves it. Nothing is published or played until they do.
-
Residents ring a local number to hear it.
The questions clerks ask first
Is it accurate?
It uses only your council’s own published documents. It distinguishes decisions from proposals, and draft minutes from approved ones. Closed-session business is never reported beyond the fact that a decision was made. And every summary is checked by your clerk before anyone hears it.
Is it AI?
Yes — the first draft is written by an AI model from your published documents. A person approves every word before it’s published.
Does it record callers?
No. It doesn’t record calls or store callers’ numbers.
How much of the clerk’s time does it take?
A few minutes a week to read and approve the summary.
Where it’s running
A town council in Cambridgeshire approved a three-month trial in September 2026, without amendment. The trial report goes to their Full Council in January 2027.
